CHARACTER INFO
NAME: Gokudera Hayato
CANON: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
REFERENCE LINKS: Wiki!

CHARACTER INFO:
HISTORY: Gokudera's childhood was awesome. Where by awesome I mean horrible and traumatic. Sure, he grew up in a ridiculously huge mansion owned by his mafia boss father and had his own servants and maids, but before the age of eight Gokudera had been poisoned (over two years!), shot, rejected by his childhood hero, and learned that dear old dad had probably ordered a mafia hit on the woman who was his biological mother. Nooot the best of childhoods. When he learned about his real mother's death, he made the snap decision to run away, and for the next five years canon gets a little vague. It's heavily implied he spent most or all of that time trying to prove he could be a member of the mafia without the help of his childhood hero (a respected assassin) or his father and ran around Italy trying to get recruited into various mafia Families. It didn't go well.

Then he had the good luck of trying to kill the Vongola Family's boss-to-be, Sawada Tsunayoshi. He slipped up during the attempt and was saved by the clumsy kid and made the completely logical decision to pledge his life to Tsuna as a subordinate for as long as he lived. And true to his word he spends the rest of the series learning to tolerate other members of the Family as they're recruited, fighting loyally for Tsuna's sake at every turn (whether it's necessary or not), and gaining weaponry that doubles as fashion accessories, pets, or the most macabre set of hula hoops ever. Over the course of the series Gokudera's goal has become less and less about just being an impressive mafioso and more and more about becoming a person that Tsuna can truly rely on. It's just coincidence that he needs to be an impressive mafioso to do that.
PERSONALITY: Given his early life, Gokudera is not a person who plays well with others. With most, he's loud and aggressive and quick to resort to violence when angered. And really, it isn't difficult to make him angry. He's distrustful as a rule and tends to see small slights as something more than they are. These overblown reactions have landed him in trouble in the past, and they still get him into quite a few fights these days, but he has been learning to tone it down to varying degrees with the other members of the Family.

And, of course, it's all for the sake of his beloved boss, Tsuna. More than anything, he wants to be a good, strong source of support and dependability for him. It's just taken Gokudera a while to get past his hang-up of competing with everyone around him for Tsuna's approval, attention, and praise to realize exactly how to do that. He's recently had it beaten into his head that he needs to actually act like the second-in-command he's always self-proclaimed himself to be, and he is working on filling the role as best he can. He doesn't blow the youngest member up nearly as often as he used to, for example! And he now takes protection of the Family as a whole much more seriously than he used to; he's realized they're all important to Tsuna, and what's important to Tsuna should be important to him.

Gokudera is also an exceptionally hard worker. He always pours 110% into whatever he's set his mind to. If it happens to be training, this may well mean working himself until he sleeps through meals, which is an improvement on working himself nearly to death. Literally. He's got genius level intelligence that lets him do things like solve NASA-ranked math problems in his head for the lulz, but he's never very arrogant about it. It's just not important to him when compared with his duties to Tsuna or his role in the mafia in general.

CONSIDERATIONS: Without his memories of a lifetime spent fighting and struggling for what he has in canon, Gokudera will have less of a temper and a much lower tendency to resort to violence when it isn't really called for. Also, because he doesn't remember any of the rejection he's experience in his life, he'll be considerably less distrustful of people and have a much lower craving for attention and approval. He won't feel as though he has to compete with people around him for attention and will have a somewhat easier time getting along with them. However, he's still a smart guy even if he won't remember everything he learned in his life; he won't just take what he's told at face value simply because he's more trusting now. He just won't be assuming everyone's against him anymore.

Because he doesn't have a trusted figure to devote himself to, Gokudera will devote himself instead to finding out as much as he can about who he is and why he's here, which means he'll be very into playing the games. This particular trait can be changed the most as he builds relationships over time, particularly with his team (he could very easily shift devotion to them, for example), but it's going to be his main motivation on entering the game and learning about how to earn back memories and such so I felt it was worth putting in this section.

SKILLS:
+ Throwing skills!!1 Specifically dynamite, but it can apply to any blunt object too. This includes knowing how to judge how far what's in his hand will go and targeting/aim, and the dexterity to hold and throw over a dozen sticks of dynamite at once.
+ Language skillzz (Fluency in Italian, Japanese, English, Russian, German, French. Only the first two are canon, the rest I tacked on as headcanon since he's a genius in academic terms in canon.)
+ Other advanced academic skills (math, science, does anyone care about history?) CAN'T DO CALCULUS ANYMORE OH NO :'(
+ Classically trained piano skills
+ Knowledge of explosives; specialty in dynamite. Basically knows how much it will take to blow up x item, hoe long it takes a fuse to burn, knowledge of how to make them (tho probably not from stuff out in the middle of the woods)
+ Ability to summon forth a Dying Will Flame (Basically a physical manifestation of one's will. This requires the use of a ring.)
+ Ability to use an arm mounted flamethrower powered by dying will flames
+ Knowledge of how to use a weapon system he received in canon: System C.A.I. (This system is made of up several different parts/weapons. It can be broken down into the different parts/weapons for the purpose of earning knowledge of how to use it back though. Here is a list of All The Things this system involves.)
+ Knowledge of how to use his magical belt buckle (a-another weapon system he receives later on in canon. That is stored in a belt buckle because that makes sense. It's made up of dynamite and a tiny cigarette flamethrower and a cat that is part of the previous system and can also be broken down into relevant parts if needed.)
+ Archery!!
+ Street fighting; he's not SUPER AMAZING competition for main characters or arc villains, but he can take down cannon fodder no problem whatsoever

WRITING SAMPLE: Can you play who you've apped? You have a few options here!

OPTION 2: HERE IS HIS DROP FROM CFUD This is indeed AU from canon and comes after he's spent 2-3 years living in a cave with Tsuna, Yamamoto, and Zexion from Kingdom Hearts along with various other castmates and random people as they apped in and out of the game. IT IS VERY SAD OKAY also he had the biggest rivalfriendship with Ikki (second thread down) ever.
